For those just discovering pop singer Chappell Roan, her rapid rise may seem like overnight success—but as she shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on June 20, that's far from the truth for fans who've cherished her debut album, "The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess," since its 2023 release. Describing a photo of herself alone at a keyboard on a small stage, Roan recounted her days working at a doughnut shop with little money.

Roan's Tonight Show debut followed her recent performance at Governor's Ball, where she captivated a large audience. Following a lively interview with Fallon, she enchanted the crowd with a whimsical performance of her new single, "Good Luck, Babe!"

When Fallon asked her how it felt to suddenly become a pop star, Roan quipped, "It feels like I've been right all along. I mean, it already felt like I made it when people showed up to my concert a few years ago. I was like, 'people came?!' Everything else has just been the cherry on top."

Roan's rendition of "Good Luck, Babe!" was a delightful treat for the audience.

During her chat with Fallon, Roan reflected on an inspiring moment from Coachella, where she proclaimed, "'I'm Chappell Roan, and I'm your favorite artists' favorite artist," inspired by Sasha Colby, a celebrated drag performer known for saying, "I'm your favorite drag queens' favorite drag queen."

"That really resonated with me," Roan shared. "I hope Sasha Colby watches me one day—that's why I said it."

Roan's wish came true when Colby shared the Tonight Show clip on her Instagram stories shortly after.

For Roan's performance of "Good Luck, Babe!" on June 10, she brought her vocal prowess to Studio 6B adorned in feathers from head to nails.

"We draw inspiration from drag, horror movies, burlesque, and theater," Roan told Fallon about her eclectic style choices with stylist Genesis Webb. "I love looking pretty and scary, or even just not pretty! I embrace it all."

Her stage setup featured a fantastical theme, with Roan singing before a majestic swan throne—a true fairy tale moment.
